Before Surgery
Transportation
Please arrange for transportation to and from Laguna Niguel Surgery Center. You must be accompanied by a responsible adult who can remain with you for 24 hours post-op.
Changes in health prior to surgery
If you should develop any changes in your health status prior to your procedure (cough, fever, sore throat, etc.) please notify your surgeon immediately.
Food and beverages
Do not eat or drink eight hours prior to your procedure unless your physician or anesthesiologist instructs
otherwise. Failure to follow these instructions could jeopardize your health and we may have to cancel your procedure. Any medication that you need to take (with our knowledge) may be taken with a sip of water only.
Medications
You may NOT take any Blood Thinners prior to your surgery, as it may increase your risk of bleeding. Please consult with your surgeon or primary care physician if you are taking the following medications:
» Coumadin
» Plavix/Aggrenox
» Aspirin, Advil, Aleve or any other forms of anti-inflammatory mediations
It is also recommended that you stop taking the following supplements 5 - 7 days prior to your surgery:
» Diet pills
» MAO inhibitors
» Any herbal medications (including St. John’s Wort, Herbal Phen-Fen’s, Ginko biloba, Ginseng, Vitamin E, etc.)

» Your anesthesiologist will make every attempt to call you the day before your surgery to discuss medical questions, any medications you are taking and answer any questions you may have.
» Our business office will contact you to schedule your surgery and discuss financial responsibilities. At that time, you will be notified of your share of cost or other payment you will need to bring with you on the day of your surgery. Fees not covered by insurance can be paid with cash, check, or all major credit cards.
» Plan to arrive at Laguna Niguel Surgery Center one hour prior to your scheduled procedure.
» Please bathe or shower at home and do not use any perfume, lotion, or cream on your skin.
» Please remove contact lenses and do not wear any make-up, jewelry or hairpins.
» Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing. Clothes that button down the front rather than pull over the head are preferable.
» You may wear your dentures, but they may be removed in the operating room and returned to you prior to your discharge.

Day of Your Surgery (top)
Please bring someone to be with you during the immediate postoperative period and to drive you home. A member of our staff will greet you when you arrive for your procedure. At that time, you will be asked to complete and sign admitting forms. Please bring valid identification, your medical insurance card and glasses if necessary. Also, please bring a list of all medications that you are currently taking.
Once you are admitted, you will be assisted to the pre-op area by one of our nurses where you will change into a
surgical gown. You should not bring valuables to the
surgery center. You will rest comfortably while awaiting
surgery and we will take your vital signs and answer any
last minute questions.
Recovery
Our team of nurses will ensure a nurturing and comforting environment during your recovery. Our attentive staff is trained to address and manage your pain in the postoperative period. Prior to leaving, we will give you written instructions and any necessary prescriptions before you leave.
At home, if you have any discomfort from nausea, bleeding, or other complications, please contact your surgeon through their office. Our staff will contact you within 48 hours to check on your recovery.

Billing Questions (top)
You will receive a bill from LNSC, which is the facility fee for your surgery. This bill is separate from any physicians, anesthesiologist, surgeon and pathologist bills.
